Cooking and Thawing Guidelines (5–7 kg Range)
Preparation for a turkey of this size requires significant lead time and careful monitoring:
Thawing Time: A 5–6 kg turkey takes approximately 3 days to defrost in the refrigerator; a 7 kg bird may require 3.5 days.
Cooking Time: For a stuffed turkey at 325°F (165°C):
5.0–5.9 kg: ~3 hours 40 minutes to 4 hours 20 minutes.
6.4–7.3 kg: ~4 hours 40 minutes to 5 hours 20 minutes.
Internal Temperature: The turkey is done when it reaches 180°F (82°C) in the thigh and 165°F (74°C) in the center of the stuffing.
Storage: Frozen turkeys can be kept indefinitely, but for best quality, they should be cooked within one year of purchase.
